  • Berlin Schoenfeld Airport

My wife has bought me a return flight to Berlin for my wedding anniversary present. I travel on April 28th and I have absolutely no idea where to go to spot - or anything come to that!
The flights don't give me enough time to sightsee Berlin itself so I shall stay at the airport. But where to go? Should I hire a car for a few hours to get around the perimeter? Should I go to the terrace?

    Help me, Berliners!!

Not a Berliner here, but I would save the money for a car. There's currently lots of construction going on, primarily for the planned Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport SXF is being turned into, plus the extension of the A113 Autobahn, so 2/3s of SXF' perimeter are currently filled with construction.

Visiting the terrace would probably be the best option. Take-offs and landings are rather far away though, because only the southern runway is being used, as the northern one has been closed due to the new Autobahn being built and due to it not being planned for BBI.

I've extended the original day trip to an overnight, staying at an airport hotel. I now plan to go into Berlin when I get there and have a look around the city and then stay at Scoenfeld the following day.

I'll not bother with a car as you suggest. And I think a nice relaxing day on the terrace will do me the world of good!

Anyone who wouldn't mind coming along for a chat and a coffee/beer/schnapps is welcome. Be nice to meet someone there.
