Refurbished Sony a100...go for it or not?

    One of the features the A350 has is built in 1.4x and 2x zoom which Sony claim results in no loss of quality, haven't tried it yet but if the claims are correct then you could save a fortune on lenses, though the feature only works through the Live View, not the viewfinder and is only available to JPG not RAW.
    It sounds good, but it's twice the price. Money's one of the critical issues, which is why I'm not going for a Canon or Nikon. For my purposes (amateur aviation photography), it should do alright.

      Fair enough, you can only buy what you can afford, makes sense to go with the A100 if you have Minolta lenses, might be worth keeping your eyes open for A200's as the A300/350 is essentially a replacement

        surely a key factor that seems to have been overlooked (unless I missed something) is shutter lag. what's it like on the models you are interested in?

            Nearly all of my pictures are taken with a Minolta 5D, the same as the A100 with 6Megapixel and with old Minolta lenses, Minolta glass is superb!
