  • Garble registration tag in flightdecks?

    Hi everyone,

first, this is my first post here, so I'm happy to be part of this community and to see my photo numbers on the main site rise (if only I had more time for uploading )
While plowing through my shots, a question popped up: Is it allowed to edit the registration tag in the cockpit, so as to make the registration irrecognizable? (Of course not with a black bar, but just overwrite the letters with the colour of the reg-tag itself)
I guess that screeners won't appreciate photos edited that way, but it would be a great way of showing interesting cockpit shots from jumpseat rides without creating any danger for the crew.
I've been lucky and had the chance to enjoy some jumpseat rides in the past. While most pilots did not explicitly prohibit publication of photos, I'd still feel more comfortable if the reg remained unknown.

Thanks for answering. And should this question have been asked already, feel free to pass along the link - the search engine couldn't find anything though.

First off, welcome to the forums.

Second, I've seen plenty of cockpit shots with the reg clearly visible on here, so unless the flight crew truly prohibits it, I don't see a problem.
But yeah, if you do overwrite the reg on the placard, the screeners will catch it and bam, immediate rejection. At least I'm pretty sure that's what'll happen.

      Hoi Tis

First, welcome to the JPnet forums.

Second, we do not allow manipulations as you suggested. But I don't see what harm a photo can do, provided, the persons in the photo are not shown in a bad situation or so, like a pilot smoking or poking his finger up his nose or so.

        Hey guys,

thanks for your answers. I'd expected it to turn out like this, but it was worth a try
Well, Gerardo, the sheer action of giving someone admission to the cockpit inflight can indeed harm the pilots, since many airlines have strict security policies not to let any passenger into the cockpit inflight. So, many of these pilots have already broken company rules just to do me a favour, which is why I asked. And by only hiding the date of the shot I can't achieve the same level of security, for example if this very plane (with this reg) was only flying this route one single time.

But thanks for taking your time to answer, it is very much appreciated!
