      ....mostly caused by the smokers on station having a fag out the back.

      ( for our American readers..."having a fag out the back" doesn't mean what you think it means !!)

        I think your other shot would result in a "similar upload" rejection. But I do like your composition of that first shot. I'm so bored of everything being centered....

        nice work!

          I like the rejected shot! But, as everyone else has said, the haze takes away from it. Although, it does add to the feel of the shot

            To be serious...I like the shot. The fact that there is serious haze over the background is simply showing Mumbai as it is. Bangkok, Hong Kong and Shanghai have similar haze problems.

              Your appeal for photo id 1905457 has been processed and has been rejected.
              Admin Comments >> shot looks unbalanced, contrast is off as well.

                  My opinion on the shot is that I can't see the motive for the off centre shot. If there was something behind maybe, but when its a big smoggy expanse of nothing, then to me the offset shot doesn't work.

                    Well Stephen the very motive of such an angle is the sheer novelty of it, plus in my opinion atleast i thought this angle looks beautiful & that viewpoint hasnt changed at all.
                    Infact in my latest round of spotting i did quite a few shots like this.
                    Hell with the background !

                    That is my opinion & i certainly value & respect yours as well as everyone else's who chipped-in

                    Thanks Again - Vishal

                      Thanks Vishal, as a Screener when I open a pic that is different from the usual types, I usually look for what motive the photographer has for doing the shot this way. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes it's not. Sometimes a note to the screener about why you have approached a shot a certain way helps a lot. It guides us in the screening process. This might be an idea for future uploads.

                      I love seeing the shots from Mumbai, makes a change from the high rotation airports.

                      Nearly as good as watching Gilly smash the bowling in the IPL!!!

                        He's doing quite well isnt he.
                        Ricky Ponting's been almost invisible throughout the series though.
                        But to be honest we all tune-in just to watch superstar Warney, too bad Sachin cant whoop him outta the ground on & off as he's nursing his injuries
                        The great man will be back though

                        Cheers Mate

                          Wy do you beleive it is novelity ? I cna tell you that there are hundreds or thousands of similar composed pics that have been rejected.

                          Here are few examples of pics in which I have used a non centred composition.

                          [photoid=6217468]
                          [photoid=6067203]

                          You can come away with unusual composition easily here, but you have to have a reason for them. In your photo, just imagine another 747/A330/A340/777/767 (bigger plane) taxing along the apron roughly were the red-white bus is. Would make the pic look much better balanced.

                            ...which is a damn good reason for leaving a note to the screeners explaining your thinking behind the shot. This is precisely the reason that you have the ability to leave us an explanatory note. Please, please use this facility. It takes no time for us to read it, and it can swing a decision in your favour.

                              Yes Brian i do it on most occasions when there's even a remote doubt about the horizon level i'd usually mention my horizon referance.

                              Sorry mate but nothing came to me about this one as I thought the screeners'd see the way i wanted to. (No sarcasm involved guys, i love u all & i'm only wiser with your tips & inputs)

                              Cheers
