        Haha, well, i went to John 3:16 the other day, and when i saw the 135L for $400 less than the cheapest ive seen it in NZ, and in a weaker currency and im getting the tax back, i couldnt resist.

        That being said, the 135 is a joy to use, insanely sharp, so fast to focus.

                    Current Equipment

                    Canon 30d
                    Canon 100-400L
                    Canon 10-22
                    Canon 50 F 1.4
                    Canon 85 F 1.4
                    Canon 17-85

                    Although would like some input as looking to cross over to the dark side - that is a Nikon d300, although unsure as to lenses that are equivalents, in particular an equivalent lens in the Nikon stable to the 100-400 as this is the lens I use most, followed closely by the 17-85. Any advice greatly appreciated.

                      An 85 f1.4?

                      DO you mean the 1.2L or the 1.8 version?

                      Nikon has a 85 f1.4 but i dont think is in the same league as the 1.2, my guess is the 1.8 versions are in the same league.
                      They both have 50 f1.4s which i think are pretty similar.
                      They have a 12-24 f4 lens which would be fine at replacing your 10-22.

                      Best bet for replacing a 100-400 is an 80-400,

                      But a better bet is staying with Canon.

                              The Nikkor 85 f/1.4 is every bit as good as the Canon 85L f/1.2. The price difference between the f/1.2 with USM and the Nikkor f/1.4 without is not justifiable. At least thats what I have heard!

                              As for switching to Nikon.

                              Canon eos 30D --> D300
                              100-400L --> Nikkor AF 80-400 VR (rumours of AF-S VR II N)

                                I have a Fujifilm S5700 (picture currently on my sig)

                                it is in between a point and shoot, and SLR...

                                it's nice, it has the PASM modes, and an auto mode, 10x optical, 4.8 digital (it doesn't get as grainy as i thought it would get!, but unless i'm taking photos of the moon, i never use it...) and 7.1mp...but there is a version of it with 8mp and a 12x zoom, and i think there is a 10mp with 10x zoom version of this camera...

                                here is a pic taken using the digital zoom...obviously it isn't framed correctly! i was too lazy to crop, it was taken during the eclipse a while back...
