  • Spotting at Orly

Hi everyone!Since I will be in Paris next week i have decided to spend one day to spot at Orly airport and one at CDG. I'm wondering if to spot at Orly I need the permit that is required for the CDG and if there is some good spotting point that i can reach without a car. I'm still waiting for the permit for CDG and i'm beginning to think that i won't get it on time!
    Thank you in advance!

I'll try to help you now.

We've been to Paris by car. We had the luck, that there was a nice wind from the east. It's the best for Orly. The northern runway is used for landings, and the southern for take off. The runway in the east (02/20) isn't in use anymore. The best spot when theres wind from the east is a family park in the sout of Orly airfield. In my opinion the best is, when you take a taxi from the terminal to that family park. When westwinds are blowing the aircrafts will vacate the runway as shown here: http://www.sxf-spotterlempio.de/Paris2006/Jet4you737.jpg http://www.sxf-spotterlempio.de/Paris2006/AH767.jpg . This are photos of a friend who've been there in 2006. There is a shot of a hill, which can be found in the park. You can take good photos from there. And simply by the way... relax... http://www.sxf-spotterlempio.de/Paris2006/huegelORY.jpg As so far to the points out of the airport. In the terminal you can also find a public or viewing gallery (however, i don't know it so exactly, it also could be a cafe...) where you can take photos from. But you need to take care of backlight and windows. Also a chart from the net:

Point 5 is great for approach shots when there winds from the west and the southern runway is in use
    Point 6 is the park
    Point 7 my point 1
and point 5 is for approaches onto runway 26, which is used for landings, when there is wind from the west.

As so far i hope i helped you a little

When you have questions anymore, ask me

    Enjoy your trip to Paris
