  • Have A Photo Stolen?

    Here's what to do.

    1) Document everything that your photo is displayed on, this includes screenshots or whatever is needed.

    2) Register your photo with the copyright office. It only costs $35 and is very easy. http://www.copyright.gov/register

    3) Send a letter via CERTIFIED MAIL so you get a Receipt when they receive it to remove it from their website. Explain to them the copyright laws and give them a deadline to remove it. Also explain that if the photo is not removed that your attorney will be contacting them. You could also send them a bill for their use as you see fit. This would be smart to do if the website was somehow making money off of your photo.

    4) If no response or contact is made (i.e. they don't contact you, or remove it) contact a copyright attorney. A very good one is located at http://www.photoattorney.com/indexold.html. That lady is very good and represents a lot of photographers in these types of situations.

There, now that your photo is stolen, here is what you can do.
