1400 in camera equipment stolen

On last Monday, my house was broken into and over 1400 dollars in cameras and lenses was stolen. I quickly replaced my digital camera with a Sony DSC-F717. It seems to be a little better than what my 505v did. Anything I should know about the camera? The settings that are best?

I use the camera in shutter speed priority, and the speed at 800. It's a nice camera under the right hands. If you need to know anything feel free to contact me on AIM. BTW, the only bad thing about the camera is it lacks zoom, only has around 190mm.
