An open apology..

Feeling very, VERY stupid at the moment.

While screening recently I instant rejected a shot uploaded by Paul Denton of G-OOAU, an Airbus A320 of First Choice on the grounds that it was taken on February 9th when First Choice was amalgamated into Thomson Airways in November 2008.

Anyone noticed the first error I made yet ?

You got it, February 9th 2009 hasn't even happened yet

The pic was taken on Feb 9th 2008.

Got it again, On February 9th 2008 First Choice was most definitely still First Choice.

I do hope I haven't done too much damage to my credibility. I simply didn't notice my error...and I had'n't even been on the "falling over water" that night. This is the text of my apology email to Paul...

Paul,
Please accept my sincerest, most grovelling apologies for Instant Rejecting your shot of G-OOAU.
As you are no doubt aware First Choice became Thomson Airways in November 2008. I totally missed the fact that the shot you took was taken in 2008, not 2009.
Again, my most sincere apologies. 100% my error.

I received an email today from admin entitled G-OOAU but it was in HTML code so I can't read it. I can guess at what it said though

Firstly its great that you posted an apology and its a very noble thing to do. many would not have.

Secondly mistakes happen mate. Just look at what my mother produced.

Thirdly though and on a more serious note, and this is not aimed at anyone. We all need to realise just how busy you guys are, and at the same time apprciate that if a photo does not get accepted its not the end of the world. There are far worse things going on today that warrant getting upset about, my recent illness has taught me that.

I actually am seriously laughing out loud at that! Genius!

I've made the odd silly mistake on the site I screen for but hey, screeners are human beings. As such we're all intrinsically flawed and destined to make the odd silly mistake! I've always found the best course of action is a very open and honest apology so it's great to see that here as well. People who can admit their mistakes and apologise deserve 1000 times more respect than those who try hide them.

A good way to apologise would be to send Paul 3 or more boxes of beer. And as he's in Dubai right now, why don't you send them to me and I'll give (the rest) it to Paul when he's back to Geneva.
