  • If You Won The Lottery Tomorrow, What Photo Equioment Would You Buy?

I thought this would be an interesting idea for a thread. Believe it or not this thought crosses my mind quite often. Even if you have a very low chance, what Photography Equipment would you go out and buy if you won the lottery? Say 1 Million or more. The sky's the limit.

    I'll start off:

    -Nikon D7000
    -Nikon D4
    -Nikon 12-24mm f/4
    -Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8
    -Nikon 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6
    -Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8
    -Nikon 35mm f/1.8
    -Nikon 50mm f/1.4
    -Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8
    -Nikon 80mm f/3.5
    -Nikon 300mm f/2.8
    -Nikon 400mm f/2.8
    -Nikon 600mm f/4
    -Nikon TC-14E
    -Nikon TC-17E
    -Nikon TC-20E

    Maybe some day...

    Lets see everyone else's lists!

      I'm fairly easy to please.

Three Canon EOS 1D-Xs, each with its own lens.

      EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
      EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM

And just for the heck of it.

      Hasselblad H4D-200MS

And no lenses for it? Or do you just have them sitting around?

Problem is I don't think I would remember photography for at least a few months if I won the lottery! Houses in every city and Ferrai and Lamborghini exotic car collections...travelling everywhere in a new private jet.

And then comes photography. Well the 1D for sure, and oh all the L white lenses of course!

First of all I would rent a caddie to carry my photogear . And THEN:
            - Canon 5D MkIII (actually, I ordered it ... but won't get it until June ... more or less!!)
            - L prime lenses 400mm, 600mm
            - L lenses galore

Just for the heck of it: A Leica M9 with some assorted lens as travel-camera.

And I'm somewhat with Kevin: If I won the lottery, I'd get a '65 or '66 Mustang V8 convertible and I'd travel the world ... with the Leica

              Easy....

              Hasselblad H4D for portrait work.

Four Nikon D3X bodies, one with a MF Nikkor Super telephoto Zoom lense 1200-1700mm f/5.6~8.0s P ED IF for Paparazzi money earning work (after all, I couldn't just retire, I'd get bored !!) and pure posing value !!!

              and...

              One with a 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF-S NIKKOR,
              Another with a 50mm f1.4 AF-S
And finally another with a good old reliable 70-300 f4/5.6 VR

              Those three for aviation work.

Other lenses for "as required" work...
              135mm f2 DC
              400mm f2.8 VR II

              .............

To carry all that around ?
              In the UK ?
A Vauxhall VXR8. A V8 brute but comfortable, with all the necessary bells and whistles...and fast enough to get away from angry celebrity bodyguards !
If I don't feel like driving then an account with PremiAir helicopter charters.

              In Europe ?
An account with Netjets Europe for private jet travel together with an Avis or Hertz car rental account.

              Worldwide ?
I dunno, a Gulfstream G550 gets you most places in a day or two.

Combine all that with houses in Florida USA, Queensland Australia, somewhere as yet undecided in the Caribbean...with a boat at each one....

              ......and.....

I would be a decidedly happy bunny !!

A house overlooking the runway of TFN. With a barbecue place to take photos from in the evening.

                A Nikon D800 + AF-S 400 2.8 for lazy spotting.

For the rest I would keep my current equipment. (Maybe replace my D300/300s combo earlier with a D400)

Maybe add a VW Amarok for driving down to TFS for some more spotting and have a nice place to sit on the cab.

Since we're now all listing cars, I'd prolly get a Audi RS-6 Estate for carting crap around and a Nissan GT-R for rocketing around town or the country.

Then maybe a trip to Europe.

                    I would buy:
                    Canon 7D Mark III
Canon 5D Mark III (as backup to 7D)
                    EF100-400
                    an telescope
                    a high quality fish-eye
                    70-300mm
                    50-150
                    13-18mm
and the rest would go to a 1969 Boss 429 Mustang!

My first purchases would probably be the photography stuff. Since cars have been brought up, my choice would be the new Audi R8 Spyder.
