    Hello,
Thanks for that. Yes we know it and we also have other ways to check if a certain plane was at a given place at that date

Any conclusion about sharing images on facebook? I occasionally post images (maybe 1 out of 30 accepted) in ONE group (Facebook page of airport friends) but I always thought this is fine since there is even a facebook sharing button implemented.
If this is considered as bad practice I would suggest to mention this on the upload page as people rather read important information there.

PS: Are there seriously people posting images in 20 facebook groups? Who has the time for such a nonsense?

Believe me... there is a bunch of people literally uploading everything and share everywhere they can...

At the risk of igniting a fire (sorry) can someone explain what this thread is about? What is "date cheating" and in what way does changing a date affect views?? (Genuine question)

Since Flight Radar 24 took over at the old Jetphotos.net (Now Jetphotos.com) and used our database as a source for images to show on their tracking icons we have been inundated with people giving false dates in order to get their image used by FR24. Failing that, they were uploading with the correct date and then changing it once it has been accepted. This is because FR24 use the latest images by date uploaded.
It is really sad that cheats do this and I have to question their sad, muppet motives. They deny the people who upload properly from getting their images used by FR24.

I personally hate such actions and view them as nothing less than stealing. As such, I and my crew colleagues have a zero tolerance to such activities. We have several means at our disposal to check dates and I personally do not hesitate to ban the photographer concerned permanently and delete their portfolio when we catch them out. If you or indeed anyone else notice someone doing this with dates then please tell us about it with links to pictures concerned. You are not "Grassing them up", you are keeping the database honest. Anyone giving us such information will remain unidentified and safe from any retribution.

To those who would consider cheating, we don't need an EXIF which you might delete or change in order to cheat us. We have other means of identifying the location of a particular aircraft accurate to within a few minutes.

Thanks Brian, so, someone could have a shot of an aircraft in the JP database say added 5 years ago, they could go into that photo and change the date to todays date and hence FR24 will automatically choose that shot?? Yeah thats a bit sad really, had no idea that this could happen.. agree wholeheartedly. Personally i love it when one of my shots gets on the FR24 image for that aircraft, but, would'nt resort to cheating to get it there... closest i came i guess to cheating was once i made the Hekla Aurora Icelandair 757 for a few days on FR24, i wanted to try get it again so took a whole new shot and uploaded it to JP and took my chances.
              Thanks again.

Hello, here we go again....how is it possible that this latest pic have 377 views while it's just accepted??? The other pics all around the 20,30 views. I can't also see it on the FB page!! https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8537132

                Regards

That is easy. Some people like to share the links to their photos on all possible social media platforms seconds after the pic being accepted. If you are on facebook and have joined some aviation photography groups, you will notice that some spam their accepted pics into the groups, often without a comment or anything.

Yes I saw that pic shared in many fb groups, I thought that it was forbidden for reaching top 4 shots or something like that. Almost every pic from him reached top 4, i remember that some photographers were banned after doing this.

Trouble is, we cannot police where photographers post their images.

And with our own social media outlets using the pics, it would be unfair to punish users for sharing their pics. I can only recommend to ask group admins of facebook groups to not tolerate mindless link spamming for photos.

There are some websites that can generate fake hits for a shot. A shot can reach 7000 hits in a blink of an eye. Do you guys have any solution for that?

These websites are not specific to JP, but can generate fake hits for any link:
                              hitleap.com
                              10khits.com
                              traffup.net
                              hit4hit.org
                              and ...

They are being used for SEO purposes I guess, but are also being used by cheaters in JP. I was reading the posts in this topic and wanted to make you aware of this type of cheating too.
