Will the Sigma - 135-400mm F4.5-5.6 APO-Aspherical lens for Canon AF work for the Canon EOS 300d camera and is it a good lense.

How will Canon DSLR react to max. 6.3 aperture at tele end? If I understand it correctly they are able to maintain AF only when aperture is 5.6 or greater?

Can someone shed some light on this?

        >>Sigmas new 80-400 would be possible too but I think there is a problem with the Stabilizer so its not available at the moment.<<

It's been available in the UK for a while now but I have not seen any reviews/samples...

          Sigma 80-400 stabilized lens.

I did offer Sigma UK to do a review of their new lens for aviation photography purposes, but they politely declined.

They did recommend visiting an agent and trying one out in the shop, but I couldn't find any outlets on the approach to a busy runway.

Can't you return things over there if your not satisfied? Just buy it, try it, and return it if you don't like it...........

Pity, seems this lens could be a serious competitor to the Canon 100-400mm IS.

Why am I getting signals that this lense might not be all it's cracked-up to be.?

We have a trading standards law that stipulates goods must be
'up to' the purpose for which they were purchased for.

Nasty rumour spread by New Yorkers who have been surprised how
quickly Scots catch dropped coins on the back of their necks.!

                        I like SIGMA !!

I hope that it's a very good lens. It's just that I don't want to be the first person to buy one. So far, I have enjoyed using a loaned Canon IS lens. With luck it will be up to standard, at 70%ish of the Canon cost....

I'm with you! I just want to see reviews/samples..I'm off to the USA
in March and intend bringing one home..if it is anything on par
                          with Canon's 100-400mm IS.
