The picture quality decreases significantly, if a picture is resized a second time by a online database. It's much better, if you resize in one step to the desired size.

      Point taken. Thanks.

So what do I need to do to be able to upload in bigger size? For some of the pictures, not all, of course.

How about a warning enclosed with the thumbnail pic if the photo is bigger than 1024 pixels wide?

Why? When you resize your pic, I guess you know, what settings to use, or not?

            Right, Gerardo

But I meant, I'm probably not the only modem user around and can't be less interested in downloading a 1600pix wide picture on my 1024*768 laptop screen for scrolling.

But was the idea that every picture would have a 1024 pix wide version and then an optional 1600 pix wide version which will be decided by the photographer to upload or not?

Ah, now I understand. I thought your idea was meant fot the upload process. Now, it makes more sense.
