Will someone please explain to me what noise is and how to fix it? (or supply me with a link to a thread?) Thanks.

Noise is a digital cameras version of grain. If you look at the sky of a picture with alot of noise..it will look almost like it has a texture to it,like a sandpaper look.Sometimes it happens when the ISO is set to high.Sometimes it happens anyway.

Check out the Neatimage program at
    www.Neatimage.com

You can use it for free and it works great!

If you have a photo that was rejected for noise, post it here so we can see what can be done.

Well, thats a tough pic to work on.
The Neatimage don't work with the rocks and dirt in the background.
One thing for sure is upload you're shots at 1024x768.That shot is huge and it makes the noise and any other flaws much more noticeable.I had a go at it but I am far from an expert.Maybe someone else can do better?

Wow! Those programs really do work. Thanks for your help!

How do I change my upload size? Do I do that on the upload page or in Paintshop?

That image doesn't look like it has a lot of noise in it, just looks soft.

I had a got too... adjusted levels (looked too washed out to me!), reduced to 1024x and USM

                Cheers!

that does not really look like noise to me, more like jpg compression!

                    soft means a little unsharp.
                    greetings,
