What is the difference between using USM and pressing the sharpen / sharpen edges tab?

    Hi JonyJay,
I see you are from Baltimore. So am I. Do you go to the observation area on Dorsey Rd.? I'm not a pro but I can help you with the basics of PS7. Do you have AOL or Yahoo?

With the USM use Amount- 500% Radius-.5 Threshold 0 or Amount- 300% Radius-.3 Threshold 0

I use either one of those two for most of my shots. Also make use of the exposure compensation on your camera.

It's really hard to give you an exact order as there really are no set steps.

    To answer your questions though...

    1. Do a google search for a program called Neat Image.

    2. Shoot the sunny side of the aircraft.

    3. Unsharp mask sharpens your photos, you will have to use it on every photo. The specific settings vary on the softness/sharpness of the photo.

    4. Unsharp mask.

If you have any more questions feel free to post!

    Steps to take on Photoshop7

    [i]
Hi, I'm new to this forum.

I have a question on what steps to take when using Photoshop7. After I load the on PS7, what should I do first, crop, resize, sharpen, levels, color, Brightness/Contrast. And what following steps to take?
I usually use the "auto" color, levels. and bright/cont.
    My other questions are:

    1) How to get rid of grain?
    2) How to fix back lit (airplane dark, sky is bright)?
    3) What is "Unsharp Mask" and how & when to use it?
    4) best way to fix "soft / undersharp" pic?

The camera I'm using is a FujiFilm S7000 6.3 mp set at highest resolution set to "fine", ISO setting at 200 (no 100 setting) I also have the 1.5X zoom lense.

Thanks in advance for any help

    John
