Please let me know how these may be critiqued. Somewhat of a novice in the photo editing department right now but trying to get my first image approved.

Hi, the first is soft, and will need to have the horizon corrected. The other two are backlit and not worth working on if your goal is to have them accepted here.

Is this too soft? I am not sure what I am doing wrong with the compression. I am using Canon DDP4 and converting it a JPEG with a width of 1280pixels but just seems so compressed.

Sharpening is ok, but image is backlit and dirty, so wouldn't be accepted if submitted.

How do people deal with backlit scenes like this? Can HDR assist with this or just try for a shot when it is cloudy?

Shoot from a different angle next time. Backlit can be made to look better with editing, but can't be 'fixed'.

Needs a bit more contrast, but otherwise don't see any major issues.

Please provide feedback on this. Is the background too busy?

'Busy background' is not a reason for rejection. The leaning verticals (horizon) and backlighting would be, however.

Backlighting - can you be more specific? Would this be referring to the dark garage or the bright panels?

No, the fact that the side of the aircraft facing you is mostly in shadow.
