  • Timberjack - editing/rejection advice

    Hi Guys,
I have some rejections with the reason "contrast". I edit my pictures with Photoshop Elements 2018, with RAW Converter. My question about this: How do I know when the correct contrast has been set in an image?
    Thanks for yours answers

Histogram can help, but is not always useful, especially for images that background contrast issues. Best thing is take a look at other similar images that have already been accepted, or post some examples here asking for help.

Since I am not a professional photographer and I only take pictures of airplanes as a hobby, I cannot see much in a histogram. I have already uploaded some images to the database and have dealt a lot with the matter of "Jetphotos".
You wrote to me that the "background contrast" could also help with a positive decision.
What can I understand by this?

I doubt there are many 'professional' photographers uploading to JP

If the subject (aircraft) is hard to distinguish from the background due to poor contrast (typically on cloudy days), a contrast rejection is likely.

On both photos the contrast is too harsh, the shadows are completely lacking details.

              Hi there,
Thanks for your quick reply. I did not have a screener comment on either image: "Contrast too strong" I therefore assumed that the contrast would be too little in the image !

ID:	1076949Is this version of the picture better in terms of contrast, and would have the possibility to be accepted.

Contrast should be acceptable, though aircraft is somewhat soft, especially towards the nose.

is the quality from the image to upload okay or not ? I had last time so much rejects only 1 from 12 images are accepted. One more question to you, how many images i can show her on a day before upload to the queue?

This one would almost certainly be rejected for poor contrast.

Okay, thanks for the feedback, I already thought that the picture was rejected because of bad background. But it is good that you can submit five pictures for preliminary review.
