The Alaska photo had previously been rejected for under sharpened and poor contrast, and the American for poor contrast, does it seem to be up to snuff now?

No, both would be rejected for same reasons again. Due to the light, these are not fixable.

I re-edited these from a different day, the AA was poor contrast, and framing, and the Alaska was poor contrast.

With better levelling and less compression, should be workable.
