          Sharp images will generally require three things: good conditions (not too far, no heat haze), decent equipment used correctly, and decent editing. Missing any one (or all) of those steps could lead to a soft image.
          I couldn't tell you without seeing the result of each of those steps, though if I had to guess, I'd say it's probably the latter one.
