Processing and sharpening are better. Still borderline heat hazed, and maybe contrast as well.

Not with editing. It can only be avoided in the first place.

Probably as good as you're going to be able to get it, but the angle of the sun simply wasn't very conducive to very good lighting, unfortunately.

You can try uploading it at a smaller resolution

Up to you. More than a fair chance it will be rejected, but if that doesn't bother you, go for it.

A lower resolution will have no effect on the biggest issue, which is the contrast.
