    Processing looks fine, but you've now run into the actual problem: the light is quite harsh at this angle/time. It will need to be brightened, but doing so will likely lead to either parts of the fuselage being blown out, or the shadows being unnaturally light, with halos accompanying. Softness also apparent, if you decide to try another edit.

    Thanks all for your feedback. Julian, you were right, shadows/highlights was the culprit. I've altered my process a bit, how are these re-edits?

    Hello g.forwood!

    I have the same opinion like dlowwa. But these reasons are fixable. Try to add more sharpness and don't use the shadow/highlight function in your editing software (and if you shot JPEG and have a Nikon - set "D-lightning" to off).
    Of course correct the exposure - you can check this with the histogram in Photoshop or with the screening tool on JetPhotos.
