  • Pre-screening advice - p_nilly

Hi, I'd like an opinion on some night shots I had a go at recently

The KLM and AF were done handheld at shutterspeeds of 1/15 and 1/25, do I need to have it higher potentially?

White balance is much too warm on those; that being said only 1-3 are worth trying to fix as the last two are soft/blurry.

Ah okay, thanks for the advice.

I wanted to keep the white balance as-it-was because the lights at ABZ are yellow instead of white. Does this matter at all?

For your own personal taste? No. If you would like to increase the chances of the images being accepted? Yes.

Looking back at some older photos.... Does this shot need to be centred? Or will it end up getting "too much/too little contrast" rejection?

Centering acceptable, though I would crop it a bit tighter on the right. Contrast is indeed an issue, borderline at best.

Is this cropping acceptable or should I just crop as standard? (I wanted to include the shadow)

And for the night shot, is white balance acceptable?

                  1. I suggest cropping tighter on right. Shadow doesn't really add much to the image, and you can crop closer without even cutting it.
                  2. a bit too yellow, and also appears blurry in parts.

I got an overprocessing/bad post processing rejection on this photo, but I don't know why. Is it because I pushed shadows too much? And would I have been at risk of a contrast rejection anyway?

                        Would this be sharp enough?

Would these shots need any improvements?

First ok for me; second has issues with exposure/contrast, noise, and oversharpening.
