Does a photo like this have a place here? I really like the composition with being backlit with vortices and jetwash, but I know this is not a typical upload here. This is heavily cropped, so the jet itself isn't perfect if I wanted to crop tighter.

Crop needs to be a bit tighter. Backlighting is not automatic rejection, but it would help if the sky had more color (naturally, not from overprocessing). As it is it's drab and that doesn't really justify the backlighting here.
