  • Advice for editing night photos

    Hello everybody.

As the title suggests, i need advice for editing night shots. I have a number of photos taken at around ISO 6400 that i want to make look good and possibly even want to try and add to the queue. I have seen some night shots of aircraft on the sight while they were landing and they are all very sharp and edited nicely. How can i edit my photos to look like that? I am using Lightroom Classic 2024 and it has a denoise function which sometimes work but sometimes it gives me not so ideal results. I also have Topaz Photo AI but that keeps crashing on me everytime i try to denoise an image.

The first thing we would need to know is what type of lens you are using

You might want to get a f2.8, but f4 isn't too bad, should be workable. Are you doing shots of planes touching down or taxiing, or parked at the gate? Posting some examples of what you are working with would be nice. Adobe has an AI denoise function on recent versions of PS and LR that do a pretty good job of removing noise and preserving details from RAW images, you can try it out.

Use the Luminance and Color noise reduction sliders found in the Detail panel. Lightroom’s AI-based denoise feature in the Enhance section can also help achieve better results for more details you can find official lightroom guide Learn | Adobe
