  • AI Photo processing

LR and PS have AI functions built-in for noise reduction and other processing features. Any thoughts on this from an upload to JP perspective?

From a user perspective, I have used LR noise reduction on some accepted uploads, I'm not sure it made any difference on a 1280px upload but my full resolution images are magically resolved with AI. Pretty amazing.

I'm just an amateur hobbyist. Like to hear your thoughts.

You wouldn't be the first person to suggest this. Its a good idea only if we keep the real screeners, the AI would be useful when the screeners are sleeping or going about in their personal life.

As soon as you use these AI tools, your blue sky will become blocky as hell. Check it out with the "Ckeck for dust" button when uploading a picture.

As long as these tools cause such results, they are useless for JP uploading.

Here at JetPhotos we try to have the photos as natural and realistic as possible. Only human eye and gentle processing gives you that. AI may be useful in other photography themes.
In perfect world (I know, we are far from that but...) photos for JP should be already nearly acceptable when you snap them with your camera with only minor corrections needed after.
AI processing is very easily visible by screeners and we can say that IA was used for specific pic before upload.
So yes - use AI for insta or othe socials with all the gliter and filters
For JP - keep the traditional way of preparing and uploading your best shots!
        Happy Spotting to all!

I can't imagine why someone would use AI noise reduction on a sky, that would be ridiculous. I don't think you understand the AI tools.

EDIT: That was an abrupt and short response on my part. My apologies. My only purpose for this post was a discussion. I do understand that clicking a button to use AI to process a photo is likely not a perfect option, And, I fully agree, as Tom posted above that your photos should be pretty much right out of camera; those are always my best shots. However, If I take a morning sunrise shot at a bit higher ISO than ideal, there are some pretty good tools in LR to deal with Noise...and not selecting the sly, just the airplane, or maybe just parts of the airplane.

Either way I am not trying to introduce some new way of processing photos, just creating discussion. This digital processing forum is pretty heavily filled with photo submissions as opposed to talking about actually processing images.

Well... AI Denoise may be very intrusive actually, so you need to be very carefull with it.
Personally I don't use photoshop or any of it's variations (I work with ACDSee Pro) but there used to be a nice pack of plug-ins called Nik Collection with great denoise and sharpening tools.
Not sure however if they are still available for PS.

Imho, The noise reduction tool on PS has made huge progresses over the updates, making all their other plugging useless.

Yeah, i try to only use it for night shots which i take at high iso rates, the one that i use is the adobe lightroom default AI Denoise, sometimes it works great but other times it blurrs out the registration on aircraft
