  • Photo editing advice for Dominic Oakes

    Hello,
Recently I've had a few rejections due to 'bad postprocessing/overprocessed' and want advice on how to fix these photos and how they got rejected with a bit more specific information if able please. Some were due to 'visible halos' and others may be the saturation or something along those lines. I'm unsure as the rejection term is very broad. I found it hard to see said halos but wondering how they came about and how to mitigate it for next time, and so on for other rejection reasons. I have put a few examples from different days and places.
    Much appreciated, Thanks

Editing halos are visible. Can't say how to mitigate them as I don't know what you're doing to cause them.

Not a screener but my guess on what might be causing Halos is changing Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks or having a mask edit on the picture.
You don’t want to be using those tools when uploading on JP. I hope I was able to help you a bit.

Usually, adjusting the whites and blacks are okay. Moving highlights, shadows, clarity and texture (and other similar sliders) may cause halos. Also somewhere I was reading said to turn off Active-D Lighting if you are shooting with a Nikon, as those may cause issues with the photos as well.

Cool thanks for the help, it probably will be something along highlights, shadows and dehaze as i do use a bit of that for editing photos like newton and mythic has said. Thank you for your help.
