Screen for editing smaller images

Hi all,
As the title suggests I'm curious about screens for editing photos. The issue I am having right now is that I have two big screens with high resolution and when I open an image sized to say 1600px it appears tiny. I cant see the full details of the image to see if its sharp or even in focus for that matter.
I've tried scaling and resolution settings to no avail (always appears small or pixelated).,

My question is what screen you are using for editing and at what resolution. Many thanks.

Screen size is not important in my opinion. Retina displays are a bit worse than other type of displays, but I use one of those and don't have problems.

Totally false. There is a massive difference between, say retina resolution on a 13" laptop display and the same number of pixels/resolution on a 27" monitor. An image will literally be twice as big on the monitor.

As I mention, it is definitely an issue. You really have two options: if you want to edit on smaller screen with higher resolution you will need to do so with as big an image as possible. As an example, I find anything under ~1600pix very difficult to judge (for JP purposes) on a retina screen. Second option is using a non-retina/4k monitor if you want to edit small images for JP. I use a 3440x1440 (34") monitor for such purposes.
