I had a go at you pic and came up with something like that, please don’t kill me - I’m sitting in the office in front of a crappy flat screen that maybe doesn't show me the whole truth.

You seem to have reduced the amount of over exposure on the tail, certainly looks better .
Originally posted by jidIndeed a very good first attempt. As indicated above there is a little over exposure in the tail and little dark/under exposed. Careful work with your rgb curves will brighten the whole image up without affecting the luminosity to much. You have to watch the work flow of that Jid fella, I have heard he might be updating it soon but we will have to wait a few weeks for that. Anyway here is my humble attempt.
JetPhotos.com is the biggest database of aviation photographs with over 5 million screened photos online!
Keep the shots coming .. Jid
I started playing around with the curves and although I haven’t managed to get it right yet, I think it has improved slightly.

Well, your Camera seems to be good enough for here with a little work! I have to use NeatImage with each of my Photos. There is a way to use it without making the grass/tarmac go soft/blurred,
I achieved it by starting off here:
http://www.rockymountainavphotos.com.../Workflows.htm
(Click on 'Fergul McClean's workflow document')
In this workflow, Fergul mentions something about using neatimage and 'select inverse' during Sharpening. Read that part. If you follow it and work with it, when you use neatimage after editing, it doesn't affect the grass as much or at all. When I first followed it, it didn't quite work that well, but I adjusted it to suit me and built on what was written. It is to do with selective sharpening and selecting inverse etc... See how you go and if you want anymore help, or precise instructions from me, just drop me a line.
Keep Practicing.

Everyones nice comments and great help have pushed me to take another look at my pictures. I fooled around with a couple of them and it made some nice improvements.
Here's one I like after editing.
Please, tell me what you think

The grain is killing a lot of my pics, I used neatimage on it but if I’m afraid that if I use too much it will go very soft, even with the low setting I use now the grass is becoming a bit blurry.
While I’m busy saving up for a DSLR, I’ll just keep practicing

I think it is a great first time editing aswell. My first time edits were not brilliant at all. It looks to me like you've covered the basics. Re-size, sharpen, level, crop etc...
If you want a small critism, there is quite a bit of grain in the sky. The colours in the Photo are generally good and contrast well.
Your off to a good start. Take the comments onboard which you'll get and you will get better. Just keep working with the Photos and the settings in the Camera. Keep at it and you can only improve.
Cheers,

Originally posted by YYZPICSFor a first time, i think you did great. I think this shot has a chance in the DB with some editing.
It was never intended to go into the DB, but I appreciate the confidence!
Originally posted by Chris@YYZfor a first shot, I really like it!
A little bit of over-exposure and grain around the tail, but with a little bit of editing in PS, I can definitely see it making the DB.
Good Work!
My $0.02
Please tell me how to get rid off the over-exposure with PS7, I can’t find anything on how to get rid of it (or at least lessen it)
What I said to YYZPICS goes for you to, thank you for the confidence
Originally posted by medic1I think everyone’s right...don't be too hard on yourself. This shot is a work of art compared to my first spotting trip! lol
A few of the changes as stated before, (I think it could also use about .3-.5 CW rotation) and I think you got yourself a winner.
Good work...keep em coming!
I leveled it again and I gave it an extra .3 CW rotation, the result can be seen in my first post, thank you for pointing that out
