Jan,
I'm not known to be the most politicly correct guy and I think this Transaero picture has been enough commented so let's be clear...
You really got to learn, practice, learn way more because again, this shot is miles from being acceptable... Just look at the noise to start with... If you shoot at iso800 during the day, it's obvious that you really need to read your manual more carefully....
So PLEASE try to avoid the most basic mistakes, shoot at F8 and on good weather and when you'll have mastered the basics you can start to try shooting outside the box...
regards
Alex

If I DO go spotting in bad weather another time (will try to avoid) at the same time I shall try to stick with f/8

Hi.
Okay, largest aircraft to land at Wellington in over 10 years. Longest ever too.
Anyway, got these photos.
They wouldn't be considered hot would they (just wanted to double check first in case I could...) as it's the first 777-300 that air nz has and a new rego (though it's a tad old got here 1 month ago).... It may just be the excitement of this new aircraft.
From Aviation Photos
From Aviation Photos
Just wondering about these photos...
Cheers!Note: I did not copy PMN, I am in fact obsessed with both (ask anyone who knows me and they would confirm that I talk constantly about these things

Not hot, as we have already photos of Air NZ B773 in the db taken over a month ago. Also, they look both a bit backlit.

Yeah. I got all excited about it being hot in my mind (cause it was a pretty big deal for Wellington aviation if I'm honest) but realised afterwards that it was a far stretch
As i'm still nowhere near being a proficient uploader, is there a suitable way to fix this backlighting?
Compared to other situations, i feel that they may be salvageable?

Kanehoshi...
With no reliable vertical and a wide angle shot this is one of those where you have use a horizontal. Trouble is....there's no reliable horizontal !!
Visualise the horizon as an average that looks right and run the level tool along that (red horizontal line in this example). In this case it comes out as 2.02 degrees clockwise.Visually check the result. The main point of eye focus is the photographer. He needs to be seeming to stand vertically which he is with this adjustment.
If it 'ain't broken........ Don't try to mend it !

How are these in general? My main concern is sharpness, since I just got a bunch of rejections due to softness
