So Seahawk, we meet again. Your advice on F-stop for the 50-500 zoom was very helpful. I think the quality is better even if the acceptance rate isn't. I didn't use shadow/highlight tool. I used "magic-loop" to sharpen only the aircaft and avoid bringing out all the grain in the sky. Perhaps a bad idea. Could you please further explain the "overfiltering"?
The sky looks a bit iverfiltered to me, on first look I would say noisefilter use, but maybe the magic loop trick made it look that way. However I can only say that there are halos around the plane as described above. Usually this comes from the shadow/highlight tool, but can be caused by other errors in processing as well.
