General Opinion about monopod with 3-5lbs lenses

For those of you who shoot the whole day with lens like the 70-200 F2.8 or 100-400 ...do you think it's worth getting a monopod or not ?

I bought one for my 300 2.8, but I rarely use it. For airshows you got to be able to point the thing quickly and it becomes harder wit hthe monopod attached. I have bought a small folding chair to rest the camera on, when I do not use it, instead.

For airliners on a predicatable course the monopod works better.

I am using a "ball head" with either my monopod (Manfroto) or tripod ( Manfroto)and the ball head permits me to swivel the camera up and down . right to left and diagonnaly very fast.
