  • Oversharpen?

    Hello,

can anyone tell me what is oversharpened about this?

Initially it was rejected because it was dark so I lightened it up/

Secondly I got the comment back on my appeal:
"pls use the forums for such questions. " So, what's the use of the appeal then if you get your appeal rejected with above comment?
Thanks in advance for your valuable feedback, Joop

    Hi Joop,
the titles are slightly oversharpened and there are some jaggies around the main gear wheels... but to be honest, I think this rejection is quite harsh.

Sorry to say, but why always using a new thread for this kind of things?

It's still a bit dark. Look at the histogram and you'll see the vast part of the graph is in the mid to dark tone area.
As for the oversharp...well, possibly a bit harsh but the titles are certainly a bit jagged. Reprocess it and when you come to the sharpening stop as soon as you see any jaggies. Use Ctrl + Z to go back one step.
Create a background layer and continue to sharpen as required for the rest of the image until more jaggies appear elswhere. Ctrl+Z again and then erase over the jagged titles. This will show your initial clean sharpening underneath.
        Flatten and save.
If it 'ain't broken........ Don't try to mend it !

The brightness actually looks perfectly fine to me at the highlight end, in fact it's on the verge of blowing out in parts. The mid-tones could do with lightening a little (probably taking them from 1.00 in Levels to something like 1.10-1.15 would work nicely) but overall brightening would very quickly result in overexposure. As for oversharp, the rejection may be a little harsh but it's technically correct; there are indeed signs of oversharpening that will be very easy to get rid of with slightly different processing.

The overall quality is good, it's easily fixed.
