  • Odds of these photos being accepted???

    Hi,

I took some pictures a year ago at the Miramar Air Show. I think they are decent quality, but I would like your opinion before actually uploading them. These are the raw photos before any editing.

I know they look low quality at full size, but they looked pretty good when they are shrunken down.

So please give me your feedback and tell me if ANY of these photos even stand a chance...

    Thanks

    JC

The 1st one is average/ok, the rest are personal collection. The 1st one needs a bit more of a edit to take out the contrast, however the quality of the image is very average itself.

Thank you, Brenden. By average, do you mean average for JP.net? Or how otherwise?

      Thanks

Would it be rejected because of the random people standing in front of the aircraft?

I am not entirely sure. That is definetely something I will have to consider again. I am not sure if it is comparable against the people in front of the plane in this shot:
Miramar Airshow 2010. US Navy's F-18 in special scheme to celebrate the 100th anniversary in naval aviation.. 165677. Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet. JetPhotos.com is the biggest database of aviation photographs with over 5 million screened photos online!

But otherwise, how would this shot do?

Coke, the quality is not there in the images that you have supplied. The 2nd shot of the FA 18 is a lot better in composition and also lighting, however you have appeared to done a poor edit. There is a lot of pixelation in the image, so not up to the usual quality of jetphotos.net If you have a look at the thread about editing hopefully you can develop a work flow that will hopefully achieve a better photo.

Thanks Brenden, but the 2nd photo of the FA 18 has no editing at all, it is only a raw photo. It looks a bit bad at 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution, but here is the image scaled down to 1024 x 768 resolution. Also I sharpened the image a bit.

The first shot should be workable, you might get something out of the vertical bombburst and the last F18 shot might yield a result. The Snowbird shots are backlit though and would be rejected.

That 2nd FA18 shot, nice edit, shame there is a little too much sharpening now.

Thanks brianw999 and Brenden. Um, what exactly is a vertical bombburst? I could not find anything that might fit that description in the photograph. I am trying to figure out how to sharpen the first original image, but not oversharpen it. Also, Brenden, you mentioned earlier that the image had some spots of pixelation, can you help me point out where those spots are?

                    Thanks

I assume Brian is referring to this photo:

From the image that I downloaded and looked at on my computer it appeared very pixelated, so what I was talking about was all I could see was pixels and the image merged together. Pretty self explanatory.

I would've said, the light is not perfect for a black bird, but taken as a whole, it's not bad. But I am still learning as an amateur photographer.

Thank you for all your responses. Honestly, I am getting a bit confused about which photo everyone is talking about. I assume that one of the black F-18 photos has the best quality of them all. Is the afternoon shot, the raw morning shot, or the sharpened morning shot the best?

Brenden after carefully examining the photo I have noticed some pixelation in some areas, what do you think about the smaller size photo? is it better/

                              Thanks
