Do you have a larger version? Its only 77Kb, mail me a bigger version if you can and I'll see what I can do. What would you like done? Better lighting, sharper, colours etc?

Sorry I didn't have time to explain more earlier, but I had to leave for work.

          Step 1:

          Levels Adjustment

The histogram showed that the shot was overly dark (it was shifted to the left side), so by dragging the right hand arrow to the edge of the histogram it brightened the picture. I moved the middle arrow left a bit too to further brighten some of the dark shadowy areas.

          Step 2:

          Sharpening

I used an action I have saved for D30 picture sharpening.
Basically it applies USM in 4 steps.
          The settings are:
          Amount 200%
          Radius 0.2
          Threshold 0

Appyling it is stages gives a smoother sharpen than applying one big sharpen which produces grain.
In this picture I applied six sweeps of USM at these settings.

          Step 3:

          Dodge Tool

Use this sparingly, but I applied a little dodge to the darkest areas (under wings/wheels) to bring out a little more detail. I have the dodge tool set at 2% opacity to give a gentle effect.

That's all really, not much to do, maximum of 1 minute's work, because the basics of the photo were already there. Nice shot.

          Hope this has helped

              Hi Garry,

you did a very nice job on this picture the results are absolutely stunning.
I have a d30 myself, thanks to an advice you gave me on this forum awhile ago, i am very much interested in the sharpening action you saved. Wou you like to share it?

If yes I would love to receve it (r.aardenburg(AT)og.unimaas.nl)

              thanks in advance.

what do you mean by applying it in stages, its the settings i have my USM also.

don you mean apply it first to the full original image then fade it?
