No, it was an internal comment, you wouldn't have been able to see it so it's good you asked here.

Soft/slightly blurry, weak contrast, and an awful lot of clutter.

Not sure that it's editing problems so much as starting with something that might not really be editable.

Gotcha! I have found a couple of others that are sharp from the camera, so will try to work on those.

Can I just confirm on these rejects - softness on this one? Because I compared to other images I have on the database and it's comparable in sharpening.

Whole tail is very soft, nearly blurry. Could also be heat haze.

And this one? Is the heat distortion on the cheat line?

Looks more oversharpened to me, but that could be because of heat haze, can't really tell.
