Question, in reference to being too soft I would like to ask if we could get some better pictures to reference from on the upload guidelines. I certainly have been having a hard time figuring out when its too soft.

Easiest thing to do: search the db for similar photos like yours, i.e. similar size, similar subject, light and background, and compare these photos with your photos.

no.1-4 look acceptable, no 5 looks yellowish, too high in the frame and horizon unlevel

No need to bother. While the first is borderline for contrast, neither are bad enough to have been rejected. I've added both.

I just had this picture rejected and I was going over it and was wondering if it was worth me to appeal it? I don't see how there were categorize missing and how the fence is an obstruction since I have uploaded a few with the fence in the same spot and not been rejected. Thank you in advance

I was one of the screeners who rejected the photo, first for the fence which is really distracting and also for the missing night shot category. I'm sure it is possible to find a spot, where you can photograph aircraft without the fence disturbing that much.
