  • It is an awkward crop. Needs to either be tighter for a close up, or to show the whole aircraft, imho.

I am honestly confused. "awkward"? The crop shows both engines, all three landing gears, no parts abruptly cut-off.
The photo is quite sharp and shows the plane nicely as it is taxing to the runway. I am not going to point fingers and say THAT photo is the same or THIS photo is worse, though they were accepted.

I really think cropping rules need to be clearer to avoid these doubts. Honestly some times they are accepted and other times they are not.

You really need to help we with this rejection. The orginal motif is: Part of aircraft cut off
I appealed because there are many similar photos in JP that I checked for compusre and are very similar - nonetheless the appeal was rejected: too much plane for a close-up - Regards

Now that is a strange explanation.

I have checked again and there are countless photos with a lot of plane in the close-up. As I explained in my photo. I tried not to cut off windows, flaps or other items so the composure is complete.
I have a really crappy streak with close-ups and everytime I edit one I get the jitters that it will get rejected for some strange reason I cannot understand.

Sure hope someone can help me.

        Hello,

Not a screener , but I have need it to crop it, I would have cropped it, or behind the hanging of the lh engine, or behind the main landing gear.
Something like this, although this is a skyshot of course. https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8668556

        Best Regards,

          Thanks for your tip.
I personally feel my crop is fine but the "rules" say otherwise.
I will try your crop style - tighter to the wheels and cross my fingers.
          Ciao!

          • I have come to the conclusion that there is a secret screener committee - hidden behind closed doors - that analyzes if someone gets too many approvals, a few rejections are thrown into the mix to avoid spotters getting too cocky.
            Just kidding but maybe....

Anyhow. What is wrong with these 6 (yes SIX!!) rejections with the motif: Bad Color (Over/Under Saturation, Hue)

I screened some of those. They all have a strong cyan/green cast.

Can you tell me where the cyan/green cast is?
Is this something you see with your naked eye or you use some function of photoshop top determine this cast?

As said in previous rejections, I do NOT touch the color in any way during the editing process. Just (spot removal, levels, brightness, contrast) resize and sharpen.
Sorry to say but this is really annoying for me. A rejection for something I sincerely do not see.

Regardless of where you 'touched' the color or not, the cast is there. That's like arguing an image can't be dark because you had exposure set to automatic. Does your camera always get the settings right when in automatic mode? In any case, see the left side here:

You probably have better eyesight than I have. You are also probably a better photogrpher than I am.
But I do not use any strange automatic modes. Just aperture priority and automatic ISO - nothing else.

As mentioned in other posts, this problem has surfaced 12 months ago. I have not had this issue before, never before.
Has something changed in the JP screening mode?

You set the WB manually? If not, then it's your camera that's doing it.

                      • Crop no more - hopeless situation

                        Howdy Santa Screeners

I will no longer post any cropped photos because no matter what angle or crop I use practically ALL have been rejected and will be instantly rejected.
I really do not understand this.
I did my homework and studied quite a few accepted photos where cropping was used.
I figured if those were accepted there would be no doubts.
Not in my case. It seems when I put a cropped photo in queue there is a string that sends my photos to rejection.

Truly - no matter what I do = rejection
Truly - no matter what others do = acceptance

Since pointing fingers at other photos is a taboo to give you an example, we are going to debate until eternity as to Yes or No.
Because if I could give you an example I could find quite a few photos IDENTICAL to the same angle or cropping.

                        Therefore - adios cropping.
                        Cheers

                        Alberto

                        • Hi,
I suppose you're talking about that rejection ?
                          https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=6988497
You included too much space behind main wheel and that's why it got rejected. Good luck at finding another shot with that much space behind the wheel on a 787 that was accepted...
Don't waste your time, there's zero, I've just checked the first 20 pages, 600 pics... But I found some crops you can get inspired by : https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/9161202 / https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/9159667 / https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/9141199

                          Kind Regards
                          Alex

PS :Also note that pic needs a 0.2 CW rotation

                            • Side on shots do not benefit from cropping at all. It ceases to be a “cropped image” and becomes a “badly cut off image”.
I was going to add some examples but Alex has beaten me to it.

Fellas I can find a side shot that was cropped - to my modest opinion quite badly - but nonetheless accepted
I followed that example and of course got the rejection.

The examples Alex posted are fine and dandy - but side shots cropped exist as accepted
