  • Help with editing photos?

I have had 5 rejections today trying to upload a photo of my Jabiru. From contrast to "horizon uneven" I have no idea what any of it means. I am not a photographer and just need help loading one photo. Anybody that can help me. I would greatly appreciate it. I can email a few photos and then can post once I get it back.

I need one photo for radar24. I can then later do a course in photography as it seems like only a person with a degree in arts and photos can post here. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated

    regards
    Piet

    Hi,

First of all welcome to JP. The better way to start is to post one of your rejected photos, with this we can comment about it.

Don't agree with you and also don't think in this way. You only need to know some simple things about photo editing and that is it. As example, I'm a Civil Engineer and University Teacher and don't have any course/specialization/or whatever in photo editing, just learning myself here in the forum and with some friends.

Besides of that, post your photo and for sure I (and the JP community) will try to help you.

    Cheers,

    Vinicius

      Dear Piet ,

even though I haven't screened your pics I can give you a feedback for each and every one.

      1) https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=6866093
Personally I would have rejected it just for quality (poor quality). But for future reference, it is backlit (the light comes from behind the plane), it has JP artefacts everywhere (compression) - You can see that if you click on "Check for dust" button. Horizon means that it leans a bit to one side (in your case to the left as we look at the pic). It is also cut-off (the tip of the right wing is clipped). This oe cannot be saved even by a professional photogrpher / photo editor

      2) https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=6866042
Horizon: It leans to the right
      JPG artefacts: Same as above
Bad Info: You have input the airline as "private" but the name of the opperator "Absolute Aviation" is clearly visible on the plane.

It is also soft i.e. looks like out of focus in some places and I don't know if you have chosen the correct categories for the pic , in this case Small Prop and Night Shot

      3) https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=6865753
      Soft: As above
      JPEG Artefacts : As above
Categories: Same as above, it needs "Small Prop"
Over Processed: If you click on "Check for dust" you can see huge halos around the entire plane.

      4) https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=6865744
      JPG artefacts: As above
Contrast: There are no tonal differences of the colors/shadows atc on the plane. In simple words, looks a bit dull
Dirty scan: There are some spots visible in the sky, from dust on your cameras sensor

      5) https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=6865739
      Contrast: As above
      It is also compressed

From all I can tell, you haven't used any editing software (Photoshop, Lightroom etc) at all. You have just uploaded the pics exactly as they were taken with you phone (at least the first one) or your camer.

I am not a photographer, I have learned everything I know with a lot of reading but mostly by trying-failing-studying my mistakes-learning from feedback etc. I uploaded my first pic 7 years ago, I had a lot of rejections over the years, but I have learned from them, and now I am reaching 3000 pics in here and last year I had the honor to join the JP Crew as a screener.

I hope I have helped you.

I think you at least get a phone with a better quality cam if you're gonna upload to Jetphotos. Then if there's any flaws, they'll be fixable.

The horizon is unlevel, there is some compression visible, and it is below the minimum size requirement for uploading. All should be fixable.
