    Evening all,

Wondered if you could help. Had a couple of photos rejected for horizon unlevel.

In this photo, the screener kindly helped by advising clockwise rotation - how do I do this?

    https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=6866779

In this photo how can you tell if the horizon is unlevel?

    https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=6868464

    Many thanks for your help,

    Ian.

In the second image you can tell the horizon is not level by taking a look at the building in the background (as an easy indicator). If you look at it, it’s on a slight lean towards the LH side of the image.

    Kindest Regards,
    Jordan

Just had a look at the first image aswell, by clockwise rotation they will mean that the image needs leveling in a clockwise direction and you can see this if you look at each side of the image when the horizon passes the edges. The RH side of the horizon meets the edge of the image higher than the LH side does ever so slightly.

          Hi Tony,

          Thanks for getting back.

Great spot on the second photo - I can see now.

Don't know how to rotate clockwise - presume you need an editing programme for this. I just use the photo editor on my laptop.

          Best wishes,

          Ian.

            Hi Ian,

Hard to give specific advice without knowing which 'photo editor' you are using on your laptop. Check it for a 'straighten/crop' function

I use Photoshop, heres a link to a windows based editor https://www.dummies.com/computers/pc...photo-gallery/

if that doesn't sort it drop me a pm with details and happy to help.

            Tony

Can't really see the horizon, but the verticals (especially in the first) are leaning severely to the left.

Help with undersharpened soft/JPG compression artefracts

                        Evening all,

Had a few photos rejected recently for undersharpened soft/ JPG compression artefacts.

                        7014775

To be honest sometimes I can't really tell if a photo is undersharpened soft or if they have JPG compression artefacts (this has been a problem before).

I resize the picture using Paint to Horizontal 1261 and Vertical 842. I use the clarity option on my laptop's photo program, sometimes change the exposure and try to make sure the horizon is level.

These photos were shot on AV F16.

I was advised to use GIMP but this hasn't really helped

                        Any help gratefully received.

                        Many thanks,

                        Ian.

Don't think the photo is undersharpened but indeed has some compression. Not sure about all your workflow, but you applied sharpen or too much noise reduction to the sky? Also, in which quality did you save your file?

Thanks for your reply. For the photos in question I only resized using Paint option. Did not sharpen. Original file size was JPEG 7.49MB, then horizon was levelled so file is 2.88MB then resized to 456KB to met Jet Photo requirements.

                            Hope this helps,

                            Ian.

Hi everyone, Is this photograph soft? I'm not great at spotting the soft areas. Many thanks for your help, Ian.
