OK. Is there any hope for this image? Just shot PH-BQD and all pics were unfocesed, ^%^$# camera autofocus. SUXX. So this is the only one that came close to sharp. It's the KLM B772 PH-BQD on here maiden voyage if I'm not mistaken.

    Thanks,

Doesn't look like it can be saved, it's grainy, soft and blurred.

Yeah, just like I thought... I ran it through Neat Image but keeps getting to blurred. Suxx.. I need a new camera... In the last 2 days I took 300+ pictures and only a few made it. Still pretty new at taking pics of planes and from what I'm noticing it's the cam that sets the shuttertime to long.
That's when I set to full automatic. When I set it to manual, ISO400 auto focus and stuff but manual shutter I get to 1/180 - 1/250 but for some reason images are realy realy grainy. When on full automatic, no grain but blurred. Cam also has settings for sharpness, hard of soft. Any tips on setting these settings would be greatly appriciated. Now it looks like I got a realy nice shot on the cam itself but when viewed on a monitor it suxx.

            Thanks,

            Michael

ISO400 is quite high and the higher the film speed the more grain will appear on the final picture, if you have you a dSLR this is not such a problem. Always try and pan as well, this will minimize any blur your getting and when you master it you will get some great motion blur effects.

                What were the weather conditions?

I only go up to ISO 400 in real low light conditions, all other times 100 suits me real well. As for the sharpness set it to whatever is in the middle of sharp and soft, and save the sharpening to photoshop.

Pictures always look better on the camera. It's to save you from killing yourself until you get home

Never wait for the aircraft to enter the viewfinder. Always pan with it until you see the picture you want then click the shutter. And when your using really low shutter speeds, this will blur the background and create a really nice motion blur effect. It's all about practice and getting to know your camera.

                  Grant,

OK.. So I should just stick to 64 or 100 ISO values and just lower shuttertime then. I'll give it a try. I got 1 I panned alright with today. All is motion blurred accept the plane. It's 800th or so in the queue so I'll post the pic next year when it's finaly processed

                  Cheers,

To reduce grain lower the film speed to about 100 or 200 thats what i usually shoot at and the pictures turn out really nice (even in overcast conditions).
