"Soft" - or also "Undersharpened (soft)": the picture looks too soft, not sharp enough.

"Grainy": the picture shows grain, noise. It looks very pixelated.

It would be better, if you could post some example of rejected pics. That way we could explain you better, what it means.

I get the grainy one now, but the sharp thing is not quit clear.

Here's an example, I knew it wasn't a good picture, but i'm looking for why it doesn't look good even to my amateur eyes

Well, do you think, this picture looks sharp? I don't. This picture is definitely soft. Compare it to this one (sorry for the plug ) [photoid=223198]

As I don't know the original file, I can't say, if it can be saved.

BTW, even if the pic would have been crisp sharp, it would have been rejected for "bad cropping". The nose is cutt off.

A photo that looks a little "milky" is soft too. It's mostly cause by light dispersion as is passes through the lens. Not to be confused with "blurred/out of focus".

It's helps a lot. I posted this thread because i wanted to put words to be able to know why it's not a good pic. Like I said before, sometimes i look at the picture, I know it's not good, but i want to know why.

Any help is very appriciated.
