I myself use Paint Shop Pro 8, and bought it over Photoshop Elements. I compared the two, and I just liked some of the features PSP8 has, and their support is fantastic. They actually sent me an upgrade CD to upgrade PSP to 8.10 for free, which totally surprised me to say the least. PSP8 and Adobe Photoshop Elements can be bought for around $100, and PSP8 has gotten better reviews in several computer and photography magazines than Photoshop Elements.

Let's hope he could do better with the original...otherwise it just went from being too far, to very bad processing/badscan...

    Glad you like it here!

Regarding photo eidting software, I use photoshop 7.0 Pretty expensive but needed! There are cheaper versions available, but I'm not sure which ones in the US. Perhaps someone can help here?

Sharpening the pic is not done with brightness or contrast. You should have a function somewhere on you software that says either "sharpen" or "unsharp mask". do you have that? If you do, try the following setting :

    Amount 100%
    Radius 0.5 pixels
    Threshhold 0

Let me know how you get on!

    Andrew,

I am so glad that I avail of this forum because I find answers here regarding basics of photography and photo editing. I am learning a lot!!! I've started only last month. I got a lot of rejections, but for every rejections, I learn something out of it.

We have a great group here! Everyone is supportive.

Got a question: what other photo editing software that you can recommend? I am using Picture It, and that's all.

How do you sharpen the picture? is it only by using the contrast and the brightness functions? Most of my rejected pictures are because of the problem in sharpness. I know the problem might also be the way I took the shot or my camera too. I just hope I can have a higher MP camera. what I have now is only 3MP and 3X optical zoom.

    Thanks again...

I rejected the picture. I also believe that I left you a personal note on the rejection, telling you that the pic was basically OK, just that you need to crop a little tighter to make it stand out.
