Well. This is another rather useless attempt of mine to not look at the nasty side of the planet. Things fall off of trees (wood) and things fall off of rather not so old 737 max jets (windows, and.. things). But as already Monty Python said, with John Cleese (?!), Always look on the bright side of life.

So. I thought why not for the first time in the new year have a look at my avatar. All these 747 photos are from last year, 2023, when the weather was a little bit better than today. Pls,

I rather have more doubts in my aviation skills than less.

But there is one 747 jetphotos forum avatar, join date December 2008, and there was one 747 Atlas jetphotos forum avatar, join date June 2009 (as far as I remember).

And Bob really asked Alex to delete his account? Well, obviously I should be here at least a little bit more often.

very astonishing how many Boeing747s or something like that we have, among them alot with exactly zero forum entries (e.g. 'boeing744' - join date 2018
zero forum entries), and I can swear, I have nothin to do with that.

Completely without headwind, without Brian, it would be almost boring here. I need and I like headwind, as every good jet..

PS: Some 747s even crack the 2000 forum entries, and obviously nothing really happens beyond that landmark, ... , but nevertheless I'm curious.

Hm. Obviously here in this forum, since April there hasn't changed so very much. Bob has retired. But he still is a jetphotos member. And he only follows me when I say something wrong.

And if topics which have been started by me are the devil for him, he has never followed me here into this topic. Although I expect, Bob is able to say one or two words also here in this topic.

The reason why I am here today.

Everybody who loves the LH-B744, either as a passenger or as a (former) B744 pilot or simply as an aviation enthusiast who since more than 40 years consists of that thought,

an overseas jet must seem like my avatar.

Good news for all of us. In January 2024 I thought, by 2025 I'll have to find a new nickname and a new avatar for me. That's no longer true. Somebody in heaven has listened to my prayers,

and thus, we're able to enjoy jetphotos like this at least until January 2027.

the current weather might not be great, but it's worth taking a break and just enjoying what we have, whether it’s photos or some other little thing. let your avatar remind you that even in tough times, you can find something positive.

That's not from last year, that's Lester B. Pearson International, photographed May 2024. That jetphoto is eight weeks old (plus four days).

Let me say, whether you are really shiny new or not (a little bit too much philosophy for somebody who has never been here before, let's say since 2011..),

Well. I don't yet know who's the older one of the both of us. And I know the age of quite alot of people here at our beloved jetphotos forum, both, opponents and friends.

So, I do no longer know when in my rather long jetphotos history I was ready to publish my age, but, I'd say rather early, not just since yesterday. Within 1 click you can see my age.

And then you can make a choice. Have a rather very old (but not too old) European Aviation Enthusiast as your friend. Or you say, Let's wait until next year.

I can be honest, can't I. In your case I'd say, let's wait until next year. You are so fast with good forum entries, imho within a very short period of time you make your forum entry nr 1001 .
But I must warn you, here in my jetphotos group I am probably the most friendly, the youngest, and by far (!) the Senior with the fewest forum entries.
No members with less than 1896 entries here in my group.

But why not open the group to South America (!) .

If you are in Chile, it is very likely that you know airports that haven't been on the Lufthansa map so very often. And to come back on topic, yes,

I the LH-B744, I grew up with it. The B744 was introduced to the LH fleet in 1989, and the followers (dt.: Nachfolger) of the very first Lufthansa type B744 today are still in the fleet,
e.g. D-ABTL .

So, Lufthansa by the end of this year will have a 35 year long history of active type B744 'passage jet' in the air.

And I love your story of the old car in Brazil with Lufthansa colors. I must confess, until further notice, LH is better connected to Brazil than to Chile.

This is reg D-ABYS, a LH B747-230B 'passage jet', as probably all LH overseas jets since 1970 with one or two passenger decks are called, not from the word 'passenger', but from the word
'passage', as in 'North Atlantic passage', dt.: die Nordatlantik Überquerung.

Yes. Lufthansa in Australia. Which since 1979 hasn't happened again all too very often, imho.

PS: Tullamarine today (according to en wiki). In alphabetic order. No AA, no DL, no LH. But at least two (former) 747 owners are still there,
still in alphabetic order: Qantas - QF (est. 1920) and United Airlines - UA .
Oh how I loved photos (and videos) of the flyin kangaroo on the 747, on the B744ER. In my eyes, the Qantas 747 history has ended too early!

Nevertheless, without that somebody again likes to delete me due to 'a little bit too much Lufthansa', I have found something completely different.

This is reg N634UP, a B747-87UF freighter. Obviously the photo is so very brandnew that mini photo as the icon (cp one forum entry earlier) and
the first line where the airline is mentioned don't yet work.

PS: This is an open topic. Open for ALL jetphotos forum members. And this is what I hoped when I opened this topic back then in January. That I'll not be alone here in this topic.
But the Atlas Air B744 obviously is not a plane spotter, although that's really a recommendation, Bob.
