    I think people should pay more attention to the southeastern US in terms of aviation.

    With the exception of Charleston (mostly), people don't really look down here in the South Carolina and North Carolina area. We literally have:
    • CLT - Charlotte Douglas Intl. Airport (7th busiest airport in the world and second largest AA hub, along with where Cactus 1549 is being held in the museum).
    • CAE - Columbia Metro. and the surrounding areas (multiple air force bases with F-16's and Apache's).
    • AGS - Augusta Regional (Every year the annual Golf Masters Tournament is held at Augusta, meaning insane private jet traffic).
    • GSP - Greenville Spartanburg Intl. (The largest BMW factory is connected directly to Greenville airport cargo area, and many 747s fly in, an AN-124 often)
    • MYR - Myrtle Beach Intl. (One of the bases of Omega Air Tanker with their 707 and DC-10).
    • GSO - Greensboro Piedmont Triad Intl. (Greensboro is where Boom Supersonic will have their Overture factory and is also the main base of Samaritans Purse).
    Also some notable feats of these airports:
    • AF1 (Obama) once landed at CAE, and many military aircraft such as P8 Poseidons, C-130s, C-5s, and C-17s do training rounds there each day (obviously they fly in from somewhere else). It's also one of only six regional cargo hubs UPS has and is one of the few airports to see Fedex ATR-42s and ATR-72s.
    • AN-124s have landed at GSP plenty of times in the past because of the BMW factory there.
    • CLT is another Prime Air hub and is a smaller Samaritans Purse base. It has also had the AN-225 land there, to replace an engine for an AA 777-200ER.

    Well. That very very very often does not belong to the responsibility of professional pilots, Flight Captains, F/Os and not either to the responsibility of aviation enthusiasts.

    Let's ask Boeing Bob, if he as a former 747 Flight Captain could have done something for his home airport, if we talk about :

    1. More public awareness for Bob's home airport, or for your home airport, or for Flight Captain Chesley Sullenberger III National heros home airport, or for my home airport.
    That's one thing. In my humble opinion, with every post you write you have the chance to make your home airport known, and this is a worldwide aviation forum...

    2. A very different thing (!) is, to get the a/c types on your home airport that you love.

    Today I am here in this forum since more than 15 years, and you can ask me, did you achieve that your favorite a/c type visits your home airport very often?

    And I must say, No.

      If you ask me, it must've been more than one whole year since here we were able to see passengers who arrive and leave with this very very very VERY classic
      DL-B763ER, here at Lohausen International.

      This jetphoto obviously likes to say that I don't say the truth. October 2023.

      But I can also say, here we the B763ER, and since the Condor Flugdienst does no longer fly it, never again since March 12 2024,
      who is able to bring a B763ER to my home airport once again?

      Before I became a Jetphotos member, but this is a 15 year old story (!), but if you've never heard that, for new members I like to tell it again and again, before I became a jetphotos member,
      I had the choice for a nickname, LTU Tristar or LH-B744 or DL-B763ER (!).

      I could swear that aviation history between my home airport and the DL-B763ER is also already 15 years, or longer.

        I just wondered why I don't open a new topic.

        'Say an airport where you like to see your favorite a/c' . And you like to begin with Charlotte Douglas ? Hm. Everytime when I write together with Gabriel, we perceive a very strange thing.

        There are airports in the USA which are better connected to Germany than to the USA.
        [Read it again and you'll see, it is the truth!]

        But the last time I was here I wasn't even able to upload attachments due to an error 403. And until today it is not quite clear
        where this error comes from. My idea was, I own a not so very slow machine (computer), with a not so very slow connection, am I too fast (?!).

        So, until somebody confirms that I'm too fast and that the error is here on my side, let's stick here to your topic.

        Airports that are better connected to Germany than to Gabriels home airport (?):
        Charlotte Douglas. nonstop to Rhein/Main with American Airlines (according to Rhein/Main en wiki).

        And you know where Flight Captain National Hero Sullenbergers ex airline is now, I strongly assume you know that. Since 2015 our beloved Cactus is owned by AA .

        So, at least for Rhein/Main I wouldn't say that Southern USA is not well represented. Again, I don't know if Charlotte Douglas has good domestic nonstop flights.

        Austin and Atlanta nonstop ... ? Yes, at least here in Germany that's no problem.

          Alex? If you have to or if you like, you must stop me, but this 'the Southern USA is not well represented' theory gives me the rest.

          Even with not so very friendly airlines, the assumption does not seem to be true....

            The Intercontinental airport of Orlando Florida, KMCO . For a very very (very!) long time has been a Lufthansa nonstop destination. You're right, not in the Lufthansa summer schedule 2024.
            Has to do with the Donald, kmco not yet recovered from the orange hair. Only an assumption. Which must be allowed in a topic which was started by a man who quotes Obama.

            And I don't know if this rather fameless a/c is able to replace LH-B744 traffic and Obamas AF1 ...

              I think people should pay more attention to the midwestern US in terms of aviation.

              We have a strong history and a good location to provide a true, geographically-central hub and spoke services to everyone around us: North, South, East and West and a fair bit of unused airport capacity.

                you're right, the southeastern U.S is really underrated when it comes to aviation. these airports have a lot going on, nd most people don’t even realize it.
