  • America West retired it's last 737-200

"An airline puts a veteran airplane out to pasture, does the gold watch go on the wing or the fuselage?

Twenty-two years ago America West Airlines started out with three Boeing 737-200s. Thursday afternoon officials of the Tempe-based carrier will retire the last one in its fleet.

Since 1986 this particular plane has flown more than 800,000 passengers.

America West's current fleet size stands at just under 140 aircraft."

    -----------------------------
After Southwest's retirement of the 737-200 another airline retires them. Although this happened a few days ago, no one mentioned it.

Now it looks like DL is the only American operator of the -200 variant.

What's the max number of these America West has ever had at once?

Sad to see the old classic retired from yet another major carrier. It will be a truly sad day when all of them are gone!

THE VOICE OF REASON HAS SPOKEN!
Pop quiz: Which US president said, "Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade, and much of his nation's wealth, not on providing for the Iraqi people, but on developing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them."
George W. Bush is not correct. It was Bill Clinton in his 1998 State of the Union speech. HMMMMMMMMM.
