OST/EBOS : 0.5km/0.3mi (not even 5min. by bike)
BRU/EBBR : 125km/78mi (1h15 by car)
AMS/EHAM : 280km/174mi (2h35 by car)
CDG/LFPG : 290km/180mi (2h45 by car)
LHR ... hmmm 1 hour flight from BRU (=1 hour drive to get there)
Unfortunatly, I don't have my drivers-licence yet ... So I have to wait untill a friend of mine goes to one of these airports.
Greetz,
Andries

Im about 3-4 miles away from KMDW
About 20-30 miles from KORD
It takes roughly 7-10 Minutes to KMDW
Depending on I-294/I-90 traffc it can take anywhere from 30-90 minutes to KORD

I'm 15 minutes away from MAN, and 45 minutes away from Liverpool. So I stick with MAN!

I live apx. 7-10 Km. from the terminals in Copenhagen, but 2-3 Km. from treshold 04R/L.
When 22 is in use, I can sit in the kitchen or in the garden and watch departures.

Technically any airport "reasonably" close to town can succeed if the infrastructure is there. Unfortunately, it seems to be popular North American (or maybe just Canadian?) culture that this is poorly done or not done at all. Just ask Mirabel. I don't know what the situation is in Edmonton, so I can't really say much about that.
Here in southern Ontario, I hear that they're starting to dig land in Pickering. It was land purchased some years ago by the government when they planned to build a new airport there. I certainly hope they don't build the airport there and shut down Pearson. I'm pretty damn sure it won't come with a high speed rail, and I refuse to drive 1+ hour to the airport!
by the way, I live a few blocks away from dave_333, so refer to him for my distance to YYZ.

Anyways, I am all of 10 minutes from my door to the airport terminal at YYC. I can see aircraft departing off runway 10 or landing on 28 right from my living room window in NW Calgary... it's great.

The Downtown airport here has been butchered a few years ago and only permits puddle hoppers of 15 pax and less. I used to catch the 732's to YYC. A 10 minute drive got me to XD. I now must traverse a a good 1 hour + to catch the same flight at YEG. Closing out jet aircraft from XD was and always will be one of Edmonton's biggest blunders for business. And we wonder why Calgary gets it!

8 miles SW of YYZ. About a 20 minute drive on a good day. Could be an hour when the 401 is in bad shape, you local guys know what I mean.
