  • 773ER gets yet ANOTHER range boost!

    It's that time again folks

Though they've yet to change their website's stat sheets; Boeing has upped the 773ER's range to 7940nm.

This being the 4th time since testing began that the 777NGs have received a range hike! As with last time, no fuel increase, just better-than-expected peformance out of the GE90-115B and perpetually lighter aircraft.

This again also propels the twinjet ahead of the HGW A346's proposed range ...Good stuff!

By about 40nm (on paper) . Let's see if the A346HGWThingamajiggy does meet its proposed 7900nm range.

Kudos to the 777 long range program!

Airbus does seem to aim high when it comes to numbers on paper!

Agreed, whereas Boeing tends to do the exact opposite.

Imagine how pleased customers such as BR must feel: when BR ordered the 773ER, it was advertised to have 7200nm range and 750,000lb payload.

Now they're getting 700nm more range and nearly 13tons more payload-potential than what they paid for!

Heck, AF and JL are so elated that their 77W's are exceeding their expectations especially the fuel burn.

Now if only QF can see the light

                    Both...

They do have an RFP for a 350-seat aircraft with 773ER head-to-head with the A346HGWThingamajiggy. This might even dictate which way they'll go for the C-Market aircraft.

Isn't it weird that Boeing almost exclusivly predicts the lower end of the proformance scale and sells their planes by that as opposed to Airbus, who sets high predictions with room to fail built into the project?

It just makes me like Boeing even more. that is Just my opinion.

                      GO 773ER, YOU ROCK!
THE VOICE OF REASON HAS SPOKEN!
Pop quiz: Which US president said, "Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade, and much of his nation's wealth, not on providing for the Iraqi people, but on developing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them."
George W. Bush is not correct. It was Bill Clinton in his 1998 State of the Union speech. HMMMMMMMMM.

That is the general concensus indeed. Regarding perfomance promises, Airbus is a bad as McDD, always saying "Hey, our airplane can fly this far over this distance at this speed from the beginning!", while Boeing is more like "This is the initial data before flight testing. Chances are certain data's might be better."
Obvious which approach is better (just compare the experiences of SAA and AF ).

                            -Colin

Oh, and Irfan: Very good contriution .
