  • Favorite Plane to Fly (Pilots)

Just wondering out of those of us that fly, what is your favorite plane that you've flown and why?

For me and my limited aviation experience its the seminole. I've only had 3 flights in it but compared to what I'm used to that thing can move, especially when its cold out. I know for a twin it is fairly underpowered, but I'm not experienced enough to care

Yeah, the arrow was pretty sweet in the one cross country that I did in it. Other than that I found it kind of akward, but that could just be the way that UND had us flying them in the pattern, it seemed like they had us goin way too fast so trying to stay in close and slowing down on final wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do. Oh, and poweroff180s in that thing were freakin hard. I tihnk its much like trying to paralell park a car on a very steep icy hill. Thing just wants to keep goin down.

The top three would be the Mitsubishi Mu-2, Beechcraft B200 King Air and the Boeing 767.

Everything I've ever flown that burned Jet-A. The Lear was fun because it would climb like a striped ass ape, and was very nimble. The Sabre was fun because it was a stable airplane. The Dash 8 is a lot of fun because of the things it will do. I know of few other 35,000 lb airplanes that will fly at 85 knots, and land on 4000 ft runways.

The only airplane I've ever flown that I despised was a T-210.

By reading their memoirs, here is how some old hats cast their votes
                  - AF : 747 / L1049
                  - IT : the Dassault Mercure is the landslide winner, next is the trusty Caravelle
                  - UTA : DC.8 and 747 on a tie.

For me it has to be the beech baron, fast, easy to fly, and a great machine.

I would have to go with the Diamond Star DA40 .

It's got plenty of power (Lycoming IO-360 with 180HP),
                      digital engine controls
incredible aerodynamics (molded carbon fiber/glass fiber),
                      IFR/VFR certified,
very light (weight) but really stable.
Joystick makes it very controlable and responsive.
                      It's got room for 4
                      stalls at 49kts!
                      can cruise at 130Kts @9.5gph at 6000ft
                      big windows and great visibility.

I really enjoy flying that plane. I'm just missing a few $$$$ to get me one.

well I fly a Tecnam P96 Echo in flight school, so, I'd say its my favourite because its nimble and best of all... idiot-proof

Right now i hardly ever fly, when I do, its either a piper J3 cub(with floats) or a Bonanza, i'd say the J3 is much more fun to fly.

I've flown the 172 and 150/152. I DEFINITELY prefer the 172R's over those other pieces of crap.
