  • Just saw a small plane crash

Wow!!!! I just saw a small plane fly over my house and smoke (Very black) was flying out of it. Ot look liked a piper or a Cesena. I helicopters flew about 5 minutes afterwards over head and it looks like there is smoke coming from the airport. I'll see if i can get an update or any pics.

Well I just came back from the airport and found out everything was all right. The pilot made a safe emergancy landing (was heading to SYR) His engine started to smoke and as he started to decend it just kinda blew up into flames. He glided safely into ITH with a few minor injuries. I fell retared cause I already forgot what a/c kind it was but atleast the pilot is ok.

Well I saw a lot of smoke from a loud low flying plane. Then few minutes later it was followed by a helicopter and it headed to a big flaming thing about 2 miles NE from my house where the airport is. I wasn't allowed to take pics at the airport due to the police being dumb asses but I am flying out of ITH tomorrow so maybe I'll see some of the wreakage.

I get one with a rather sad outcome...
In 1982, at Nice airport some friends and I saw a Quikie
              -taking off from runway 05/23.
The aircraft was litterrally propelled skyward by the strong headwinds but
              - it sharply banked on its port side
              - then nosedived for a couple of seconds before
              - smashing on the runway....
Next morning, I read on the local Nice-Matin newspaper on the crash.
The Quickie was bound for Paris
Two persons on board : a father and 9 year old son, both instantly killed at impact.
To make the matter worse, wife (and mother) was on board a CDG bound AF 300 which was due to queue behind but was kept at stand.

I read something in a magazine about an accident in Minnesota a few summers ago. I think it was in a seaplane and they had just landed and were taxiing up to the dock when the pilots daughter saw a friend waiting for them, before the plane had stopped she popped the door open to jump out and onto the dock, she ran up the float to see her friend and didn't see the prop, must a been torture being the dad to see that.

Speaking of seeing small airplanes crash. I watched Jessica Dubrough (some of you young folks might not remember that one) crash at Cheyenne Wyoming. All I can tell you it is the most helpless feeling watching an airplane disappear behind the trees going straight down. That day sucked. Does anyone know what happened with the lawsuits involving that accident? I had heard that they were suing Cessna, the engine manufacturer etc...

I remember that crash....is she the supposely the youngest solo pilot at the age of 13 or whatever...but it's false info...becuase she was flying with a FAA certified pilot on board....Stupid medias.
