How about a Regional Ops at DAL?

How about moving their entire RJ ops to DAL? But then again, silly me, people will need to feed onto INTL or other mainline route.
Does DAL have noise restrictions in effect that prohibit the use of larger aircraft? How about a maximum size of a 757? It's just a $2.00 ride to Love Field after all! Does DAL have a sufficient runway to expand?
    For business commuters, it can be DAL-LGA, DAL-DCA, DAL-IAD, DAL-PHL, DAL-BWI, and DAL-BOS and utilizing all 738s or Super 80s or CRJ-700s.

side question: AA has ERJ-145, but will it be prudent to fit it with winglets to make it competitive with CO and it will be an ERJ-145X for long haul RJ routes?

DAL has no room for runway expansion unless they bulldoze some bordering businesses and reroute an artery street. Larger aircraft such as 757, 767 and 747 land and depart from DAL regularly. Some of the private jets here are louder than any commercial jet I've ever heard.

That might be a quick and convenient way to move opposition (to the Wright & Shelby Amendments) away.

no doubt DAL can handle a 757 or bigger. Hell, the Dallas Mavericks keep their 757 at DAL.... not to mention, AF1 has and does land there. I seriously doubt that AA would move any type of real ops to DAL. Even with the East Concourse being relatively open, they would be paying a lot in opening anything up out there. Plus, DAL does not have a lot of room for expansion, not just gate-wise, but especially parking-wise. Arpey is just saying that to stir the pot up. Hopefully, the Wright Amendment will be shitcanned, and we can watch him eat his words.

Just as a side question: What is the status of the Legend terminal? I remember it had 4 jetways for small narrowbodies, plus 1 or 2 RJ parking spots. Could an airline theorethically use that terminal?

How far is DAL from DFW? Can a train be put in between the two? It would be stupid , but AA could operate out of DFW and Eagel out of DAL, with a train connecting the two. But that would be inconvinent!

Theorethically, yes, but both the costs for building and maintaining the train, and having operations at seperate airports, immediately make it a bad idea.

Just a few months ago the City of Dallas approved metro train service to DAL, connecting it to the rest of the line. However it remains to be seen if it will ever go all the way out to DF-Dub.

It's owned by the airport now, "Lemmon Avenue Executive Terminal"

Unsure if it's been used recently but it's definately in the inventory and available for use.

Is AA absolutely crazy what do they think that this will be Legend all over again. I'm not even a Southwest flier but this would be suicide. This move only shows how wacko things are getting in the headquarters. As bad as it sounds any carrier that started up today and offered the exact same service as AA would beat them on cost hands down. No pensions, no us vs. them union relations, new approaches to customer service. With every move towards open skies between the United States and Europe the inevitable end is coming near. "Down the tubes slow but sure" AA has to make decisions to completely change itself if it expects to survive in any form 20 or 30 years from now or they will end up like its long since departed CAB cohorts. Maybe the name will be bought up or a merger will take place, but everyone will have to admit that travel is becoming a commodity and high yields will eventualy disappear leaving AA with a big problem. Don't forget cabotage will one day be here in the U.S. its only a matter of time

It's comments like this that prove that not everyone on this website is capabale of making sound judgmements or commentories on/of the US Aviation Industry. Will AA dissappear? NO. And the mere fact that they have mentioned to discuss construcuting a hub at Dallas Love Field is meant as a symbol of intimidation. The unkeen mind would naturally assume that the measure is meant to anger the only major operator at DAL, Southwest. But a person with some common sence would realize that proposal is not a sign of insanity at AA Hdq, but rather a cunning move to intimidate the citizens of Dallas who greatly enjoy their peace and quiet. The threat from AA would cause citizens to petition their congressmen, and the chain reaction would complete itself with the Ammendment being uphled, therefore a manintaince of the status quo @ DAL, which would also manintain a status quo@ AA and DFW not to mention Southwest.

Furthermore, how dare you claim that AA is slowly dying, I can only assume that you be overjoyed to see the hundreds of thousands of employees that will be forced into unemployment when AA is destroyed.

i wouldn't call AA's remarks intimidating, but I would definitely say they are full of shit, and WN knows it, along with everyone else that has any type of airline sense. AA's comments were meant to raise public skepticism, but hopefully it won't matter.
